San Francisco "Ferry Building" Catch-all
Fused glass catch-all dishes featuring your favorite city landmarks - part of an ever growing series!
This catch-all features the San Francisco neon sign on the Ferry Building. The San Francisco Ferry Building is a terminal for ferries that travel across the San Francisco Bay, and a marketplace with stores and restaurants. On top of the building is a 245 foot tall clock tower that can be seen from Market Street (provided there is no fog!). I printed the image in dark gray and orange on transparent aqua glass, with a 1/4" coordinating strip of transparent orange., then fused it in a kiln to about 1400 degrees. The piece was then cold worked on a glass saw and/or grinder, then returned to the kiln to slump into it's final shape.
It is screen printed, kiln formed glass, 4.5" square and slumped into a sushi-style mold making it about 3/4" high at the corners. Catch-alls are great for tossing your coins and keys into, hold rings and earrings, candles, soap, make cute appetizer plates, spoon rests or decorative accents. They are food safe and we recommend hand washing, though they can go in the dishwasher.
