Daruma Single Sun Catcher

Sun catchers featuring 1.75" transparent glass diamonds, and are about 2.5" wide with 5" clear loop at the top.  These are weather safe, look great hanging in a window or on a wall, or even in your garden!

This series features our Daruma* design, screen printed in red enamel onto transparent turquoise glass, then fused in a kiln to about 1400 degrees.  Each has a hook fused into it, which is used to connect the pieces with weather-safe jump rings, then hung from a 5" clear loop.

A Daruma doll is a paper mache Japanese traditional doll modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen tradition of Buddhism. Daruma dolls are seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck, making them a popular gift of encouragement. They are a traditional New Year's gift - when purchased, the figure's eyes are both blank white. A user will then select a goal or wish and paint in the left eye. Once the desired goal is achieved, the right eye is filled in. Because of their ability to return to their original position even when pushed over, they have become synonymous with a popular Japanese phrase “Nana korobi yaoki” (七転び八起き) which means “fall down seven times, get up eight.”
